The song is about a woman who lures a marine to her family that then opens up with AK-47 fire. Its a tome about what happens when civilians become terrorists and help the militants. There’s satire, there’s oblique humor, and there’s venting.
I could post some links to videos cheered on by muslims around the world, but they are not so upbeat in that they ACTUALLY SHOW people getting their heads hacked off as the muslims maniacly scream “allahu ackbahr”

As a man who served proudly with Marines (1981-85), it is so out of the character of the Corps which I will always support and defend — usually, the traits and behavior of the men and women of the USMC are standards of conduct complimenting America’s strive for liberty, fairness, strength with compassion, and so on.

I’m surprised at the comments left on this site in regards to this posting. I can understand why people would be angry at this video and song, but what I can’t understand is how people can relate what this Devil Dog is singing about with killing of innocent people? He sings about a Marine that was taken to a woman’s home, where her family opened fire at him. Innocent? I think not..
Regardless of whether it happened or not, it’s a song. For as long as humankind has been around, we have created song. Whether it’s about joy, sorrow, humor, whatever - we have done that. Marines are no different. When times get tough, we tell jokes, sing, whatever to feel better. Would everyone prefer that the world’s finest fighting force try to hold hands with everyone? That’s not how we won the battle of Iwo Jima, Belleau Wood, or any other conflicts the Marine Corps has been involved with. I don’t care what anyone thinks - Marines are not here to hold hands, sing kumbaya, and give flowers to everyone. For the past 231 years, we have fought wars, and protected the nation from enemies foreign and domestic. We are NOT the Peace Corps - but the Marine Corps! The audience is laughing because the girl in the song says: “Dirka Dirka Mohammed Jihad”, which is a terrorist line from the movie “Team America World Police”.
The audience laughs because when the family of terrorists begin shooting their AK47s at the marine, the marine does what no marine would ever do but terrorists do every day, is pull the daughter in front of himself. The laughs come out of the frustration that the marines feel when terrorists hide behind women and children.
The audience laughs at the blood being spilled from the girl as her fathers and brothers shoot at her in order to try to kill the marine. Again, the frustration that the marines feel in the reverse situation is released by laughter when they listen to the absurdity of the situation. The marines would never do this, that’s why they laugh at it. Laura Bush made some remarks once about her being a “Desperate Housewife” and people laughed specifically because Laura Bush would never even watch the show, let alone act like one of the Desperate Housewives.
The marines are routinely faced with having to shoot civilians that are placed in harms way by the terrorists. The marines don’t get to use civilians as cover. That is why they laugh at the situation proposed in the song when the marine does what the terrorists do.

I found the words online. Some may not be correct.
Clearly this is a song about what the Marines are going through, that is never knowing who really is the enemy and the difficulty dealing with that. They are dying for US and Iraqi’s freedom.
Good luck to the Marine in the video. He should not be hung out on this one. You can’t comment unless you take it in context, with all the words.

I happen to know this Marine very well. We have known each other for 7 years and have served our entire USMC career together. And this i can tell you. He saw the movie Team America World Police while serving in Iraq. At this time he was extremly stressed out with being overseas and seeing as we all do, our brothers and sisters K.I.A. every day and not being able to do a damn thing about it. He is not an Infantry man and therefore has no way to directly fight against the terrorism that has affected so many in the world. So one night while sitting around with some friends he made this song up. It has no relevence to any actual events or any actual individuals. The “Hadji Girl” and her family can even be said to symbolise any and all who attack innocents and/or lead false lives for the purpose of creating a dangerous situation for others. i.e. the terrorists who live in other countries for YEARS and have whole lives as citizens and then one day, become martyrs, and take dozens of innocent people with them, on the bus or the train or on an airline. This song was never intended to go beyond this Marine and his circle of friends. He made a mistake by performing it one night in front of some peers and one individual recorded it. This individual of his OWN accord, brought it back to the states WITHOUT permission and posted it on youtube. It should have been pulled, yes. But we all make mistakes. We are in the process of attempting to get this video and all lyrics pulled from the Web. If you know of a place it has been posted please send an email to stophgirl@gmail.com with the website info.
We are sorry that this has gotten out and offended so many people, but to be quite honest, this was simply a man blowing off steam in a very stressful situation. The saddest thing about this whole situation is that the Marines were just trying to have a little fun to take their mind off of being away from home. MWR. Their not trying to “be evil” like some of you idiots think.
I’m willing to bet the almost every person that posts a negative comment, has never served their country a day in their life, and has never been deployed to a combat zone.
Reading some of these comments is depressing. This is how you support your deployed soldiers that are just trying to laugh a little. You people (the negative ones) make me sick. I have been deployed. I admit that I have probably done some stupid things just to keep morale up a little.
Every body is just too touchy about everything.
If you live in America you should be supporting your soldiers. We follow orders. You have a problem with the administration, fine. If you take out your anger on the soldiers that are dying for their country and following orders, then I say that you don’t deserve the liberty that allows you to be as ignorant as you are!

It’s amazing that we as americans take everything so literal. We produce movies that show graffic violence, rape, murder. On another note, I dont think people should be down on their kness worshipping the soldiers, but, at least support them. They might’ve volunteered to serve this country, but they would rather be home if they could. They have families, a lot of them will never see again. They have to play by the rules. They know when someone did something, but can’t shoot b/c of the rules of engagement. They know when they leave their compounds that there’s a damn good chance they’ll get blown up or ambushed. Listen, I think that there is some truth to what some of you people are saying about the lyrics. They are pretty graphic and of course they will upset alot of people. However, this song is no different than songs you heard in the 60’s protesting against Vietnam, some “Gansta Rap” in the early 90’s, or even many country songs your hear today. It is a point of view! Its a point that this Marine has EARNED the right to express.
Being a Marine who has served in this hellish place, I think that it was an appropriate way to express his frustration, as well as a way to report in his own way, what the hell is going on over there. He shouldnt be ashamed, he shouldnt apologize, and the Pentagon and Headquarters Marine Corps should let it be.

If you want to support the troops then you should write to congress and pull them out of Iraq. Don’t pretend that supporting the bullshit war is helping the troops, cuz the fact is that if there was no war in Iraq, this marine would not be singing this song, and people wouldn’t being sterotyping muslims as terrorists.
It’s funny how some Americans view the Iraqi insurgents as terrorists and at the same time view thier ancestors who used the very same tactics against the British as heroes. I guess it’s a different story when it’s your country that’s being occupied.

If there weren’t a war in Iraq, those thousands of mujahids that are showing up there to die fighting American troops would be here blowing up malls and resturaunts. Maybe they’d be infiltrating more flight schools to pull off a redux of 9-11. What’s amazing is that you act as if the jihadi’s in Iraq are simply the Iraqi citizens fighting for freedom; but you cannot bother to educate yourself about the fact that the bulk of the enemy forces are either (a) insurgents from out of Iraq fighting a religious war against the infidels; or (b) remnants of the brutal Baathast regime. You know, the regime that resulted in troops finding tens of thousands of bodies in mass graves from people Saddam dissappeared.
It is truly astounding how many people on the political left try to pretend that Iraq was butterflies and apple blossoms under the Saddam dictatorship.
I suggest you take to reading some of the Iraqi bloggers. These guys are critical of US forces when the deserve it, but they give voice to the Iraqi people who have embraced freedom; who want to see it through; and who fear the warlords who will fill the power vacuum if we were to depart.

Yes, people let off steam, but that doesn’t excuse idiocy. The marine should just admit that he screwed up, apologize, promise not to do it again, and drop it. Recruiters sell the image of the Corps to the 18-yr-olds who’ve not yet grown up, still living in a video-game world. The government spends how many thousands of dollars taking these impressionable young men, tearing them down then building them into honed fighting machines. 13 weeks of continuous indoctrination, plus months beyond that, around being the best rifleman you can be. “Shock trooper devil dog blood sucking war machine ready to fight ready to kill ready to die but never will”. It’s been over 15 years since I was sitting on the quarterdeck being taught that chant, amongst others; I don’t think I’ve recited it in 14 1/2 years, yet I still remember it. And I was a reasonably good kid, who happened to understand the mind-games before I arrived (dad had been at PI 30 years before I was, so I grew up under a similar mentality); but while I understood how to let it roll off my back, I also understand how most of my brethren absorbed it, it transformed them.
And you can’t split it up into a scenario where the “enlisted didn’t know better and now the officers are going to correct the incorrect perceptions”; it was through close work w/ the various CO’s, Plt.Ldrs, etc., that were always driving the point home: our job is to kill. I distinctly remember the XO waxing poetically on the difference between Marines being professional killers, just taking pride in doing their job well, whereas the French Foreign Legion were murderers who enjoyed the work more than a sane person could fathom. It’s embedded in the culture of the Corps, it’s our purpose of existence. There really was a central piece of understanding how the Corps works in Jack Nicholson’s character in A Few Good Men.
No, the jarhead who taped it shouldn’t have taped it; and even if taped, shouldn’t have put it up onto the internet. He was a real rock. But even my wife, the pacifist that she is, recognized the humor in the video (albeit black humor). She remembers the bravado that is integral in getting the young men to throw themselves into harm’s way on command. It’s back to the video-game mentality. Once you’ve faced your mortality, you live cautiously; you have to be young, “stupid” and full of piss to charge headlong into the fray at a moment’s notice.
It makes America uncomfortable that we have to have our own wolves for our own protection. But because that Marine is out there, living with an environment that could lead to that sort of song, the rest of America can sleep at night.

FOr everyone else, it is a song — nothing more than a creative expressions of the author, whether you agree with the view or not keep in mind just one thing… it is only a song. This marine does not appear to be advocating killing anyone, he is only describing the circumstances his country has placed him in…. the artist is making a point here…. No different than Neil Young making his point through his music (whether you agree with his view or not). FFS, are we going to go after everyone who writes a song, or poetry, or paints a picture simply because we are so damn sensitive.
The CAIR and other organizations are taking this song- that is fundamentally about some kid who gets ambushed by some “innocent” girl who turns out to be a jihadist- far too seriously. To elaborate on Joe’s comment above… a little info about the Center for American Islamic Relations (CAIR) mentioned by Joe…
It is worth noting that this group called “CAIR” causing all the ruckus is a Saudi funded organization. Several of CAIR’s officials and employees and former CAIR associates have been associated, indicted and arrested for numerous things amoung them for their sponsorship of terrorist organization. It has been reported in 2003 during Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Terrorism, Technology and Homeland Security hearing that CAIR is a front for supporting terrorist groups. Case in point -one of its current officers in 1994 is reported to have said “I am a supporters of Hamas” (group designated by USG as a terrorist organization).
Am I the only one who sees something wrong with this picture? A group that openly supports terrorist causes and whose members commit crimes in our country… their “offended”?

First of all you need to define “a better job”. We also get to build schools, dig wells, improve irrigation systems, provide medical care in Africa, etc. to people that otherwise have nothing. JJJ - Does anyone else get the fact that Saddam and his Baathists supported and funded terrorism and that we had to start somewhere when it came time to take out the trash? Personlly I would have started in the Palestinian “refugee camps”, worked my way through syria first… then take a nice stroll through Iraq on my sway to Saudi… then points further east… but no matter. At least the job is underway. I just hope we go ahead and invade Syria and Iran soon. Bush only has a couple more years left to get that ball rolling.

I wish I had not ran across this page. It is embarassing to me to read the comments, some of you assholes have written! First off, most of you have probably never served in the military or if you did, maybe a desk clerk! Maybe you should have been at ground zero on 9/11. Or seen the bush in vietnam. Maybe you should move to some other country. Thats a great idea! I totally support our troops. Good song, I’ll buy the album when it comes out. Would putting a Parental Advisiory at the begining of the video satisfy everyone who opposes it? Eminem sings about killing his baby’s mamma and gets a Grammy, this marine is over in Iraq and sings a song very well no doubt, and he gets this shit.

1) We are the biggest baddest power in the world, other people (and some americans) don’t like that and will use stupid things like cartoons or songs or you making a face at them to justify their hatred. If all anti-everybody-else-in-the-world songs and cartoons were never made they’d still hate us.
2) Without our military might which inclues those that serve… You and I wouldn’t have the time or previlage to waste time debating goofy songs… that’s reality.
3) If you never bothered to pursue knowlege of Arabic politics & history beyond what the media can tell you in a 30 to 40 second story. You’ll never understand why we’re involved with the conflict in the mideast. Read a book, get a clue or sound like an idiot, your choice.
4) There is responsibilty that goes along with freedom of speech that the ambiguity of the internet and mass media hides. For example, the U.S. goverment is full of the corruption, it’s our right to be able to speak out against it. Please make an effort to personally learn of what you speak out against BEFORE speaking.

What the hell is the big deal people! I am a liberal and I dug every part of that song. Apparently many people want to make something out of nothing, here is what that little song is all about:
1. Black humor–i.e. the ability to laugh at the cruel twists and turns of life
2. The use of the term “Hadji”, big deal, that always happens in wars. If muslims can call us non-muslims dogs and infidels then I presume the Hadji term is acceptable.
3. That is a FUNNY song, it showed a bit of humor in a dark setting. It was about the ugly nature of an insurgency where no one can be trusted.
4. The guy sang well and had a good guitar riff–and no, he didn’t sing about killing a child, the family did that trying to shoot the Marine. The fact that the Marines cheered is because they obviously understand black humor. Watch Gunner Palace for some great examples of black humor.
So, in short–those of you that take exception over this video need to compare and contrast this harmless song which may or may not be in the best of taste with those horrible videos of Muslim Fundamentalists cutting the heads off of people. A few Marines (kids really) laughing at a tasteless song is nothing compared to the wanton cruelty of Muslim terrorists. I may not be in favor of the Iraq war or the way it is being fought–I am in favor of ruthlessly hunting terrorists and removing them from this earth.

I believe we are in a long term war against Islam so I wouldn’t criticise and soldiers fighting in Iraq or Afghanistan. I think anyone would go a bit irrational in a place like this and have to blow off steam. This video should NEVER have been made public and I would like the idiot Marine who filmed it and then put it on the internet charged with treason, not the singer/songwriter. It worries me that someone who can carry around an assault rifle and have to make life and death decisions can be this stupid. If he can’t figure out that by posting it on the web so that it can be viewed by everyone in the mid-east who has a grudge against us and who will be motivated to strap on a suicide belt or blow up a road side bomb and blow up soldiers and civilians then it shows there are some serious morons running around with assault rifles.

So many wrong assumptions, so little time.
First, I make it very clear when I talk to people in the military that it is not them or the fact that they have been sent to do a job that troubles me, its their boss. Bush is the worst president I’ve seen in my lifetime. Many people in the military agree with me when I talk to them.
Second, lets dispense with the tired notion that if you oppose the war, you are a “tree hugging liberal.” While I do espouse very liberal views, many of the people I speak with about the war are not, and they agree with me. The only difference is that I take the time to explain thats its not them I have a problem with, just their boss and his misguided mission.
Next, society needs to dispense with all this belief in mythology. You arent going to convince someone of anything rational who believes a prophet fell from the sky and had a series of revelations on the way down, or that a deity chose a married virgin to give birth to his son, that millions of animals fit on a little boat, etc. 95% of the world believes this bologna in one form or another and they wont start thinking rationally until they realize its all just poorly written mythology.
Finally, at last I found a website that hadnt yet pulled the song and I dont see the big deal. There are so many worse things out there, like this BS war itself, to get worked up over that this side show is tame by comparison. Theres a guy named Phelps who has a website called godhatesamerica.com and holds signs at soldiers funerals that says the soldiers deserved to die and when they die “god” (mythology again) laughs. Why? Because hes a nut who hates gays to the extreme and thinks everyone else should too. And this song is supposed to be more offensive then him?
Maybe I’m a more “purist” liberal then others. At the same time I speak on behalf of women, gays, racial minorities, etc., I realize my right to freely express myself gives others the same right.

So the initial descusion was about this video why did it get off on supporting our troops or the war and making fun of the troops. The video was fine in my opinion although it should have never been posted online, but it was so it is too late now. If you don’t like it you don’t have to watch it. I personnally do not appreciate some things that the news has on sometimes so i change the channel. So if you dont like the video dont watch it and just forget about it.

(WASHINGTON, D.C., 6/14/06) - The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) today welcomed an apology by a U.S. Marine who posted a song on the Internet that the group, and Pentagon officials, termed “insensitive” and “inappropriate.”
Cpl. Joshua Belile, who lives in North Carolina and recently returned from duty in Iraq, says the “Hadji Girl” video describing an encounter with an Iraqi woman posted on youtube.com in March was just a “joke.”
The song’s lyrics included: “I grabbed her little sister and put her in front of me. As the bullets began to fly, the blood sprayed from between her eyes, and then I laughed maniacally. . .I blew those little f**kers to eternity. . .They should have known they were f**king with the Marines.”
Belile said that he apologizes to anyone who may have been offended by the lyrics. He told the Jacksonville Daily News: “I apologize for any feelings that may have been hurt in the Muslim community. This song was written in good humor and not aimed at any party, foreign or domestic. . .I will never perform this song again, and I will remove all video and text in relation to this that I have control of.”

This is the greatest country that has ever existed. It has provied more freedom and economic success for the average man than any country that has ever existed. Ever. The American people have done more to help other people throughout the world than the citizens of any other country on the planet. And, they have done it specifically because they are free and prosperous. People who live in socialist countries don’t do this.
Our enemies aren’t recognizing the Geneva Conventions, yet we continue to do so. And, there are still people–who are enjoying the freedoms and prosperity this country provides–who think we’re the bad guys.
The brave and gallant men and women who (have volunteered to) protect this country deserve our utmost admiration and respect. Anything less is arrogant and elitest.

I think the war was not the best use of Bush’s time or America resources and money. Muslim video’s online and TV are far worse then anything Marines or US soldier have done. Hello to all. I just want to say this. I am a proud member of the US Army. I have served in Iraq and so has my soon to be husband. It is not a pleasent place by any means and every day we are there we risk our lives for our country and countries that are to weak or scared to protect themselves. While yes we did choose this carreer…we are the ones that signed on the dotted lines, we did so because we love our country and want to keep the freedom that has been taken for granted by many Americans. We don’t ask that you agree with the reason why we are over there…if you ask some of the Armed Forces Service Members they themselves may not agree with why we went there to begin with but after finding out all that we have since we have been there what do you expect Ame
