For those that are trigger happy, here is the reason why our USMC are fighting in Iraq and our young men and women are losing their lives there. Read and think!

This what our goverment understands from "Protection of American Way of Life".

We occupy countries based on lies, and foreign lives are expendable for us. The oil that revolves engines of our cars is stained by human blood (or vice versa)

That's why our administration is avoiding Kyoto charter that aims to protect global environment from greenhouse gases.

With just 5 percent of the world’s population, the United States has 30 percent of the world’s automobiles and produces 45 percent of the world’s automotive carbon dioxide emissions

Big Three auto firms emit most greenhouse gas
GM, Ford and DaimlerChrysler put out more than biggest U.S. electric utility

Updated: 8:45 a.m. ET June 28, 2006

WASHINGTON - Cars built by the Big Three automakers gave off 230 million metric tons of the greenhouse gas carbon dioxide in the United States in a year, more than the biggest U.S. electric utility, environmental researchers said Wednesday.

General Motors, Ford and DaimlerChrysler cars and light trucks emitted nearly three-fourths of all carbon dioxide from vehicles on U.S. roads in 2004, the year for which statistics were available, according to the watchdog group Environmental Defense.

Nine other car manufacturers with vehicles on the U.S. market accounted for an additional 84 million metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions, bringing the total for all cars and light trucks in operation in 2004 to 314 million metric tons, the report found.

General Motors vehicles gave off 99 million metric tons or 31 percent of the total;
Ford vehicles emitted 80 million metric tons or 25 percent and
DaimlerChrysler vehicles emitted 51 million metric tons or 16 percent, according to the report.

By comparison, the largest U.S. electric utility, American Electric Power, had emissions of 41 million metric tons.

Greenhouse gases, notably carbon dioxide, contribute to global warming, which in turn has been blamed for more severe hurricanes, rising seas and other environmental ills. Though greenhouse gas emissions have most frequently been associated with coal-fired power plants, the new report aims to point up comparable emissions from automobiles.
“The image of the power plant, with a smokestack and stuff billowing out of it, creates that sense of a lot of pollution in one place,” John DeCicco, co-author of the report, said by telephone. “People don’t necessarily understand that the millions of vehicles are part of the problem that is a really comparable scale.”

He stressed a shared responsibility among consumers, auto manufacturers and policy makers.

“It’s hard to pin just on General Motors the responsibility for that 20-year-old Chevy that’s putting carbon up into the air,” DeCicco said.

With just 5 percent of the world’s population, the United States has 30 percent of the world’s automobiles and produces 45 percent of the world’s automotive carbon dioxide emissions, the report said. U.S. cars are driven more and burn more fuel per mile than the international average.

No one is calling the song a war crime, obviously, but what it describes most definately is, for the reasons I described above. This is really just a catalyst for a "discussion" about the larger issues.

I absolutely think this particular soldier has the absolute right to sing this song, and say whatever the hell he wants, as an individual. But he is much more than an individual when he is a member of the military on foreign soil. If the military takes some form of action against him I think it's justified only because he is supposed to represent the best of the nation abroad - and the callous, dehumanizing lyrics glorifying what is essentially the violent death of children, is definately not doing the job.

Members of the armed services know they are held to a higher standard, that is why the person who wrote this song understands what the problem is, and has sounded apologetic. People on the outside looking in, who are grateful for the service of these men and women, and rightfully so, may mistakenly think that because of that service, and the circumstances they find themselves in, that they should be given more slack than the average citizen back in Disneyland. NO - it has never been so, and every man, woman and child in America better pray it never becomes so.

What is and isn't a crime is even more important on the battlefield than it is back in Disneyland because a soldier who loses sight of the distinction is at risk of losing his humanity in an environment where the crime can so easily be repeated.

But the real crime is the greater crime, committed by those who started this unnecessary war. Those immoral politicians who have essentially committed treason in order to put these men and women in circumstances where they can so easily become murderers, torturers, and thieves.

Mostly the opposition here is not against the song itself, it is against the hateful, mindless, blood-thirsty support it is getting, and the reasons that mindset exists, for it is that group which has given political support to the criminals in Washington.

P.S.

There hasn't been any "real rappers" around for a very long time. Rap had a message, rap was about community, it was political. Today it's all hedonistic greed and personality cults, and let's face it - a hell of a lot of stupid s**t, which unfortunately people are mistaking for that once great art form.

But I hear what you're saying, and I certainly wouldn't want to see this individual's rights limited. I, as a left-libertarian, am a great believer in self-policing. We're educators not censors. :)

Funny how someone from a ghetto can sing about raping women and murdering police officers and they're considered to be expressing their cultural circumstances in an artistic manner; yet you same people willing to make them rich for that trash would turn around and viciously attack another individual for singing a song concerning his own circumstances and declare it a war crime. Are first admendment rights for the freedom of speech only to be protected for those individuals you choose? Because honestly, I thought we defended those rights for EVERY American citizen whether we liked their message or not. The shame isn't on this soldier, or the individual singing about rape and murder, but upon those that would tread upon their rights for their own selfish agendas.

Not that I expect any of you mindless Bush cheerleaders to actually watch it, but the "Dark Side" is now available on the Frontline website for your desperately needed edification.
